January 2025 was… a SHOCKINGLY different month t

January 2025 was… a SHOCKINGLY different month than January 2024.

First of all – work-wise, this year started with a bang and it’s only gaining momentum – and I’m definitely not complaining!

I worked on finishing several book cover projects from December, started a few new ones, and already have more than a few lined up for February and March. I also signed a contract for a rather big project – illustrating and designing a really touching children’s book – so you can expect to see some illustrations within the next few months. ☺️

When it comes to personal artwork – I finished one painting - swipe to see it! – several still life studies, and did a lot of smaller figure sketches.

A new article landed in the portfolio blog – a to-the-point guide to working with a book interior designer. 💪

And in personal life – I’m valiantly working despite construction going on right under my balcony and starting every day at 6 AM. Noise-cancelling headphones have become my best friends. 😅

I'm not gonna lie - the new IG image dimensions are actually much friendlier to covers and artwork. 😅

I started January in study mode, and I'm going strong so far - here are two still life studies that I recently finished. I'm trying to note down observations after each painting, and one of them is that drawing flowers is fun, rendering them - not so much 😂 .

Those lilies took what felt like a century! Which kind of matches with the vibe of January - anyone else feel like this month lasted at least three years? 😆
