Hey, I'm Marta Dec.
I’m a book designer and illustrator with 10+ years of experience in working with indie authors and small presses. I smothly guide authors through the entire book design process, taking the guesswork out of reaching their dream readers.
My story and experience
I’ve always been a voracious reader – as a kid, I devoured novels from all genres and drew my own simple illustrations. My love for words and language led me to studying linguistics*. While at University (back in 2014!), I started working as a freelance designer – which quickly led to new opportunities:
- collaborating with various small presses – Beans&Sparks Publishing, Wydawnictwo Dziwny Pomysł, Alven Books, Beresta Publishing
- working as a cover designer for SAGA Egmont (2019-2020)
- designing covers and interiors for indie authors from all over the world
Currently, I work as a freelancer from my comfy flat in Gdańsk, Poland. I live with my black cat, Zmora, and spend my time taking long walks around the city, and trying to decide how to arrange all my books on my bookshelves.
I also regularly work through Boldbooks.no and Reedsy.com. I work in English, Norwegian and Polish.
